If you start today, Jan 1 can be DAY 15.

If you start today, January 1 can be DAY 15

MYTHS:

  • New year, new you.

  • Fresh starts, clean slates.

  • Resolutions written in neat little bullet points.

January 1 has become this collective line in the sand—the day we all promise to be stronger, healthier, more intentional versions of ourselves.

But let me ask: why are we all waiting?

Here’s the truth that’s hit me hard: January 1 doesn’t have to be Day 1.
It can be Day 15.

Because what if we didn’t wait for the calendar to give us permission to begin?

-

I started 75 Hard today.

For those who don’t know, 75 Hard is not just a fitness challenge.
It’s a mental toughness gauntlet.
75 days.
No shortcuts. No excuses.

  • Two 45-minute workouts every day (one outdoors, rain, ice or shine).

  • Drink a gallon of water.

  • Stick to a diet, no cheats.

  • Read 10 pages of a non-fiction book.

  • Take a progress photo.

Miss one task? Start over.

Sounds intense? It is.

But here’s what hit me hardest when I thought about it:
If I start today—if I stop waiting, stop stalling, stop telling myself I’ll “begin fresh” on Jan 1—I won’t just arrive at the new year.

I’ll roll into it with momentum.

January 1 will already have 14 days of wins stacked on top of it.

I’ll start the year with proof:
That I can commit. That I can follow through. That I can take the first step—even when the finish line feels far away.

-

Let’s fast forward.

It’s December 31, 2024.
While everyone else is writing resolutions, you’re sitting there—already 14 days ahead of where you used to be.

What will that feel like?

  • Maybe you’ve read two books and learned something that’s shifting how you lead.

  • Maybe you’ve been to the gym 14 times and your energy is up.

  • Maybe you’ve set stronger boundaries, hit “submit” on that big project, or just committed to one new habit—small but solid.

You didn’t wait.
And that decision? It changed the trajectory of your 2025.

Starting today isn’t about perfection.
It’s about power.

It’s about realizing you don’t need a Monday or a New Year or a “sign from the universe” to get moving.

Momentum doesn’t ask for permission - it shows up when you do.

-

The Big Leadership Play

Here’s the thing about “starting fresh” on January 1: it sounds nice. It’s tidy. It’s symbolic.

But it also delays your power.

When you take that first step, you’re not just building habits.
You’re building trust with yourself.
You're leading yourself forward with conviction.
You're creating the results that others are still just waiting for.

Starting today—before the new year, before the perfect plan—is an act of self-leadership.

-

Here’s my challenge to you:

What would January 1 look like if you started today?

What would change in 14 days?
How would you feel knowing you’re already becoming that strongest, best version of you?

Don’t wait for a calendar to make the first move.
Because when you start believing in your own story—when you take that first step before you feel ready—you create results no resolution could ever match.

Let’s make January 1 Day 15.

What are you starting today? Let me know.
Because the truth is:
The sooner you start, the stronger your story gets.

I’ll be out here, stacking days.
Are you with me?

PS: I’m all in for these 75 days. If you want accountability, inspiration, or just someone to say “Hey, you’re doing great,” hit reply. Let’s stack days together.

My best, always,

Shar

PPS: I'll be live reporting for the next 75 days on my personal instagram @sharbanerjee. See you there!
